Robert P. O’Brien

is a member of the firm. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. O’Brien was an associate attorney with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York City, and a partner of O’Brien, McLaughlin & Kenny in Lynbrook, New York. Comfortable handling civil litigation matters in many different venues, Mr. O’Brien has tried cases and handled appeals in State and Federal Court, and advocated for clients at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, New York State Department of Labor, and New York State Division of Human Rights.

Mr. O’Brien graduated Cum Laude from St. John’s University in 1983 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice, and earned his Law Degree in 1987 from St. John’s as well, where he excelled academically (top 5% of class). Mr. O’Brien was admitted to practice law in New York in 1988, and in the United States District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York in 1989.

He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, New York State Trial Lawyers Association, National Employment Lawyers Association/New York, and Nassau County Bar Association. In the Nassau County Bar Association, Mr. O’Brien is on the Plaintiff’s Round Table and Labor and Employment Law Committees. He is also a member of the Theodore Roosevelt American Inn of Court, a society of judges, lawyers, legal educators and law students established and designed to promote excellence in legal advocacy and the preservation and promotion of strong ethical values.
